Terms of Use

Last updated: October 3, 2026

These terms apply to the use of the PinPoints app for iPhone and iPad. Please read them before using the app.

1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to the use of the PinPoints app for iPhone and iPad. The provider is:

Dennis Donner
Eduard-v-Winterstein-Straße 11
14480 Potsdam, Germany
Email: app-support@donner.io

By downloading or using the app you accept these terms. In addition, Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions apply to the download from the App Store.

2. The app

PinPoints lets you save places, combine them into trips and see distances and travel times for each leg and for the whole trip. You can open places and routes in Apple Maps or Google Maps to get directions there. I may develop the app further and change, add or remove features, as long as this is reasonable for you.

3. Your data and backups

Your places and trips are stored only on your device. I cannot restore them for you. Please make sure your device is backed up regularly. Details on data processing are in the privacy policy.

4. Distances and times are estimates

All distances, travel times and routes shown in PinPoints are estimates. They depend on third-party map and routing data and may differ from reality, for example because of traffic, closures, construction or outdated data. If no route is available, PinPoints shows the straight-line distance, which is usually shorter than the actual route. Please plan with a buffer and check important details yourself.

5. Road safety

Always follow traffic rules, road signs and instructions from the authorities. They take precedence over anything shown in the app. Do not operate the app while driving or riding. Pay attention to the traffic around you and only follow a route if it is safe and permitted.

6. Map and routing data from third parties

Maps, search results and routes come from third parties, in particular Apple Maps, OpenRouteService and OpenFreeMap (based on OpenStreetMap data). I have no influence on their accuracy, completeness or availability. Their own terms and licences apply.

Offline maps are a snapshot of the map data at the time of download. They are not updated automatically and can become outdated. Downloads use storage on your device and, depending on your plan, mobile data.

7. In-app purchases

Some features can be unlocked by in-app purchase. The contract for a purchase is concluded with Apple, and Apple handles payment, billing and refunds according to its terms. The scope and conditions of each purchase are shown in the app and on the App Store purchase sheet before you buy.

You manage and cancel purchases in the settings of your Apple ID. Purchases that have already been made can be restored in the app’s settings with “Restore Purchases”. Refund requests go to Apple. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

8. Availability

I aim to keep the app working well but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Functions that need an internet connection (search, online maps, routing) depend on your connection and on third-party services.

9. Rights to the app

The app, its design, texts and graphics are protected by copyright. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for personal purposes on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the App Store usage rules. You may not decompile, modify or redistribute the app, except where the law expressly allows it.

10. Liability

I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where I have given a guarantee. For slight negligence, I am liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation (cardinal obligation); in that case, liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise, liability is excluded. These rules also apply to my representatives and vicarious agents.

11. End of use

You can stop using PinPoints at any time by deleting the app. This also deletes the data stored in the app on your device. Active purchases are not cancelled by deleting the app; manage them in your Apple ID settings.

12. Apple

These terms are concluded between you and me, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

13. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence. I am neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

14. Changes to these terms

I may change these terms if there is a valid reason, for example new features or changes in the law. The current version is always available on this page. Significant changes will be pointed out in the app or on this website.
